Concert in aid of restoration of only Grade 1 Listed church organ in Devon

8 July at 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

The 2 manual and pedal Telford & Telford organ at Broadwoodkelly church dates from 1850 and is the only church organ in Devon with a Grade 1 listing.

It was originally a house organ, dated 1850, built by Telford & Telford of Dublin and subsequently installed in Broadwoodkelly church in 1873 from a residence of Lord John Thynne, who was Canon from 1831 and Sub Dean at Westminster Abbey for the 45 years up to 1881.

The instrument is in a remarkable original condition but is now in need of a thorough restoration.

The Winkleigh Singers will present a programme of English sacred and secular music.

There will be a retiring collection for organ restoration fund.

From 5.30pm-7.15pm there will be the opportunity for organists to play this historic gem of an instrument.

Interval drinks will be available in the adjacent Village Hall.
